Dr. Maat E. Lewis Facilitates Community Breathwork Meditation Session

Relaxed, peaceful, grounded, hopeful, aware – These are some of the words participants used to describe the way they felt at the end of the session, during which Dr. Lewis shared a wealth of knowledge on Black Psychology and Egyptian yoga practices, as well as ways to bring harmony to the human spirit, mind, and body. Dr. Lewis encouraged participants to trust and know their inner needs and inner power, as a way to cleanse and purify the self. Many of the over 50 participants who joined the Community Healing Session organized by NYABPsi as a part of our Harambee Initiative said that they felt the need to incorporate more breathwork and meditation into their daily lives.

Thanks to those of you who were able to join the session. It was truly an experience of enrichment and healing. Please enjoy the video below as a follow-up to our session.

Fellow ABPsi colleague Ifetayo Ojelade, Ph.D. asks Dr. Lewis to describe breathwork and some ideas around African Philosophy and understanding oppression.
